Narula Institute of Technology Hosts Global AI Summit ‘AI UTKARSH 2026’ in Kolkata

Kolkata, April 7, 2026: Narula Institute of Technology, under the aegis of the JIS Group, successfully hosted AI UTKARSH 2026, a two-day international summit centered on the theme “Responsible AI – Innovation with Integrity.” The event marked a significant milestone as the institute celebrates 25 years of academic excellence.

Bringing together leading voices from industry, academia, policy, and global innovation ecosystems, the summit served as a vibrant platform to explore the transformative potential of Artificial Intelligence while addressing its ethical, societal, and regulatory implications.

The inaugural session witnessed the presence of eminent dignitaries including Dr. Dipan Sahu, Manojit Sengupta, P. K. Das, Swagatam Das, Tapas Kumar Bandyopadhyay, Taranjit Singh, Simarpreet Singh, Subhram Das, and Nidhi Singh, among other distinguished guests.

The summit drew participation from across India and international innovation hubs including Singapore, Thailand, Vietnam, and Sri Lanka, fostering cross-border collaboration and knowledge exchange.

A key highlight of the summit was a 24-hour AI Hackathon focused on solving real-world, industry-driven challenges with an emphasis on scalability, responsibility, and impact. The event also featured keynote sessions, panel discussions, and a startup and innovation expo.

Delivering a compelling keynote on the “Future of AI & Industry Transformation,” Swagatam Das emphasized the growing role of AI in reshaping industries globally.

A high-powered panel discussion on “Industrializing AI: From Research Innovation to Scalable and Responsible Deployment” was moderated by Tanushyam Chattopadhyay. The panel included experts such as Debayan Ganguly, Debashis De, Rohit Sarkar, and Arijit Das.

Further keynote sessions by Tapas Kumar Bandyopadhyay and Rishi Jain delved into intellectual property, innovation ecosystems, and the importance of global collaboration in advancing AI technologies.

The summit will conclude with a valedictory session featuring key announcements and collaborative initiatives aimed at strengthening responsible AI research and partnerships.

Speaking on the occasion, Taranjit Singh said, “AI UTKARSH 2026 reflects JIS Group’s commitment to innovation-driven education and global collaboration.
