
Kolkata, 21 February 2026: JIS University marked a significant milestone as it celebrated the achievements of its graduating cohort at its 6th Convocation Ceremony with grandeur and solemnity, conferring a total of 1,450 degrees and diplomas across disciplines.
The ceremony was graced by eminent dignitaries including Padma Bhushan Prof. Dr. Shiv Kumar Sarin, Chancellor and Director of the Institute of Liver and Biliary Sciences; Justice Pinaki Chandra Ghose, India’s first Lokpal and former Judge of the Supreme Court of India; Sardar Taranjit Singh, Hon’ble Chancellor of JIS University and Managing Director, JIS Group; Prof. Bashkar Gupta, Vice Chancellor; and Prof. Goutam Ghosh, Pro-Vice Chancellor. Senior members of the Governing Board and Academic Council, faculty, directors, deans, and distinguished representatives from academia, research, and industry were also in attendance.
The convocation commenced with a ceremonial academic procession and invocation, followed by a welcome address by the Pro-Vice Chancellor. The ceremony was formally inaugurated by Chancellor Sardar Taranjit Singh, after which the Vice Chancellor presented the Convocation Report highlighting the University’s academic milestones and institutional achievements over the past year.
A total of 1,450 students were awarded qualifications, including 999 undergraduate degrees, 315 postgraduate degrees, 121 diplomas, and 15 Ph.D. degrees. Recognising academic excellence, 38 students received Gold Medals, 30 were awarded Silver Medals, and 24 were presented Bronze Medals. Three Chancellor’s Gold Medals were conferred for outstanding performance across undergraduate, postgraduate, and diploma programmes.

In addition, one Best All-Round Graduate Award and three Special Appreciation Awards were presented to students for exemplary achievements not only in academics but also in cultural and sports pursuits.
Degrees and diplomas were awarded across diverse faculties such as Engineering & Technology, Management, Pharmacy, Science, Education, Law, Hospitality & Hotel Administration, Agriculture, and Advanced Studies & Research—reflecting the University’s strong multidisciplinary foundation and commitment to holistic education.
Addressing the gathering, Chancellor Sardar Taranjit Singh said, “This Convocation marks a proud milestone for JIS University as we celebrate the perseverance, dedication, and accomplishments of our students. As they step into the next phase of their journey, we are confident that they will uphold the values of knowledge, innovation, and integrity, and contribute meaningfully to society and the nation.”
The 6th Convocation underscored JIS University’s continued focus on academic excellence, research advancement, and nurturing responsible global citizens prepared to lead in a dynamic world.
