JIS Group hosted its flagship annual awards ceremony, JIS SAMMAN 2026, in Kolkata, honouring exceptional individuals whose excellence, leadership, and service have made a significant impact across academics, culture, sports, public service, and national development. The prestigious event celebrated outstanding students, scholars, educators, employees of the JIS Group, and eminent personalities whose contributions continue to inspire society and strengthen the nation’s progress.
The highlight of the evening was the conferment of the JIS Maha Samman 2026 upon Dr. Binoy Kumar Das, Director General, Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO), in recognition of his distinguished leadership as Director General of Electronics and Communication Systems. Dr. Das has been one of the key architects of Operation Sindoor, playing a pivotal strategic role in the successful deployment of indigenous defence systems including Akashteer, Akash Missiles, and BrahMos. His contributions mark a historic milestone in enhancing India’s defence preparedness, technological self-reliance, and strategic sovereignty.
The ceremony was graced by the presence of the senior leadership of the JIS Group, including Sardar Taranjit Singh, Managing Director; Sardar Haranjit Singh, Joint Managing Director; Sardar Amrik Singh, Deputy Managing Director; and Sardarni Manpreet Kaur, Chief Executive Officer, along with Directors and senior management members. Their presence reaffirmed the Group’s enduring commitment to recognising excellence that transcends conventional boundaries.
The JIS Maha Samman 2026 was also conferred upon Sardar Tarlochan Singh, Former Member of Parliament from Haryana and Former Chairman of the National Commission for Minorities, for his distinguished service in public life, inclusive governance, and social justice. Renowned Indian classical vocalist Smt. Haimanti Sukla was honoured for her unparalleled contribution to Indian music, cultural heritage, and artistic excellence. Legendary footballer Shri Bhaskar Ganguly, former Captain and Goalkeeper of the Indian National Football Team, was recognised for his enduring legacy, leadership, and transformative influence on Indian football.
Adding a vibrant cultural dimension to the evening, the celebrations were elevated by a soulful live performance by the acclaimed Bolly Sufi band, whose evocative renditions captivated the audience and enhanced the grandeur of the occasion.
