Howrah Division Organized 166th Divisional Railway Users’ Consultative Committee Meeting

Howrah, May 09: The Howrah Division of Eastern Railway organized an Introductory Meeting of the Divisional Railway Users’ Consultative Committee (DRUCC) on 8th May 2025 at the DRM Conference Room, Howrah. The meeting was chaired by the Divisional Railway Manager (DRM), Howrah, and attended by ADRM (Administration), ADRM (Operations), Senior Divisional Commercial Manager (Sr. DCM) — the Secretary of the DRUCC — along with other senior branch officers of the division.

The meeting was graced by the presence of several key dignitaries including Abdur Rakib Shaikh, Additional Secretary from the Transport Department, Government of West Bengal; Tarun Dasgupta, Secretary of ASHRAYA; and Abdul Malek, President of the Burdwan District Rice Mill Association. Representatives of Hon’ble Members of Parliament Kirti Azad Jha, Asit Kumar Mal, and Vijay Kumar Hansdak also participated, along with representatives from the Tarakeshwar Line Passenger Association, Ramkrishna Math and Ramkrishna Mission (Belur Math), and The Bengal Chamber of Commerce and Industry.

During the discussions, DRUCC members brought forth a range of public concerns and suggestions, primarily focusing on the development of railway stations, the demand for additional train stoppages, and the introduction of new train services within the Howrah Division. The committee served as a valuable platform for conveying the expectations of the traveling public to the railway administration.

 In his address, the Divisional Railway Manager emphasized the importance of continuous dialogue with stakeholders and expressed deep concern for the comfort and convenience of passengers. He assured the participants that the issues raised would be examined on priority, and the division would work towards timely resolutions.

Concluding the meeting, ADRM (Operations) described the DRUCC as an essential forum that links the Indian Railways with the general public. He underlined the committee’s role in reflecting the interests of railway users and guiding the division’s development in a public-centric direction.
