The revered Sati Peer Mazar and Mosque in Ghusuri, Howrah (146, J.N. Mukherjee Road, Ward No. 4), is set to transform into a vibrant center of faith and devotion as the annual Urs Mubarak of Hazrat Syed Meer Shah Rahmatullah Alaih will be observed with great solemnity and grandeur.
Organised by the Mazar Committee, the multi-day spiritual gathering will feature a rich lineup of religious, social, and cultural programs, drawing devotees and participants from across the region and beyond.
The event will commence on April 6 (Monday) with a Mehfil-e-Milad-un-Nabi following Namaz-e-Isha at 8:30 PM. Renowned Islamic scholars and distinguished Naat reciters from different parts of the country will grace the occasion, offering devotional tributes in praise of Prophet Muhammad and creating an atmosphere of deep spiritual reflection.
The main Urs observances are scheduled for April 7 (Tuesday), featuring traditional rituals such as Chadarposhi, Fateha Khwani, and Naat Khwani at the shrine. A large turnout of devotees is expected, as people gather to seek blessings and participate in the sacred proceedings. Arrangements for langar and distribution of sweets have also been made to ensure inclusivity and hospitality for all attendees.
Prominent figures present during the announcement included Imam Hafiz Ehsan Raza Rizvi, Khadim Anwar Ali Qadri, noted social worker Badruddoza Ansari, and Dr. Saleem Akhtar, among other respected dignitaries. Mohammad Muslim, General Secretary of the Mazar Committee, stated that the Urs continues to attract prominent social and political personalities each year. In light of the ongoing election atmosphere, several candidates are also expected to visit the shrine to offer their respects.
Speaking on the occasion, social worker Badru Doza Ansari underscored the enduring legacy of communal harmony in West Bengal, highlighting the strong bond between the administration and the public. He also commended former councillor Savitri Devi Sahu and her associates for their consistent support and active participation in community initiatives.
With thousands of devotees anticipated, authorities, in close coordination with the Mazar Committee, have put in place robust arrangements for security, sanitation, and crowd management to ensure the smooth and peaceful conduct of the event.
More than just a religious observance, this Urs Mubarak stands as a powerful symbol of Ganga-Jamuni culture, unity in diversity, and social harmony, bringing together people from all walks of life in a shared celebration of faith, spirituality, and humanity.
