Howrah, 27 October 2025: In a significant development within the Howrah Municipal Administration, Chairman Sujoy Chakraborty has tendered his resignation. According to sources, he has formally submitted his resignation to West Bengal Minister of Urban Development & Municipal AAffairs Mr Firhad Hakim.
This comes just two days after the resignation of Sekat Choudhury, Vice-Chairman of the same administrative board. The back-to-back resignations have sparked fresh political discussions and speculation in the region.
Party insiders indicate that internal differences and disagreements over administrative functioning may have led to the resignations. However, no official confirmation has been made regarding the reasons behind their exits.
Meanwhile, Minister Firhad Hakim has refrained from commenting on the matter so far. Political observers believe that the successive resignations have created turbulence within the Howrah Municipal Administration and raised questions over its future leadership and stability.
