Kolkata, April 8, 2026: In a landmark move set to redefine higher education in West Bengal, Adamas University has introduced the state’s first Work-Linked Campus Degree Programmes (WLDPs) in collaboration with TeamLease EdTech.
The initiative integrates structured, paid work experience directly into full-time, on-campus degree programmes—marking a significant shift towards outcome-driven education.
Bridging Education and Employment
At a time when only a small fraction of India’s workforce has formal vocational training, the newly launched programmes aim to close the widening gap between academic learning and job readiness. By combining classroom instruction, digital learning, and real-world work exposure, students will graduate with both a degree and verified professional experience.
Programmes on Offer
The university will roll out three industry-aligned undergraduate courses:
- B.Tech in Artificial Intelligence & Data Science (Business Application)
- B.Tech in Artificial Intelligence & Data Science (FinTech)
- BBA in E-commerce
These programmes are designed to align closely with evolving industry needs, particularly in high-growth sectors such as AI, data science, financial technology, and digital commerce.
Earn While You Learn Model
The WLDPs are built on two core pillars:
- Earn While You Learn: Students participate in structured employment alongside their studies, receiving a monthly stipend.
- Learn by Doing: Academic concepts are reinforced through hands-on workplace application in real-time environments.
This dual approach ensures that graduates are not only academically qualified but also industry-ready from day one.
Aligned with National Education Policy
The programme framework is fully aligned with the vision of National Education Policy 2020, which emphasizes integrating vocational training into mainstream higher education.
Leadership Speaks
Chancellor Samit Ray highlighted the transformative nature of the initiative, stating that modern education must blend academic excellence with real-world application.
Founder & CEO of TeamLease EdTech, Shantanu Rooj, emphasized that the future of education lies in aligning learning directly with employment outcomes through integrated pathways.
Vice Chancellor Suranjan Das noted that the model represents a shift towards application-driven and outcome-oriented education, ensuring students are better prepared for industry demands.
A New Benchmark in Higher Education
With a sprawling 120-acre campus near Kolkata and over 10,000 students, Adamas University now joins a select group of institutions pioneering on-campus work-linked degrees—a model previously limited largely to online or distance formats.
This initiative not only sets a new benchmark for universities in West Bengal but also signals a broader transformation in India’s higher education landscape—where degrees are no longer just academic credentials, but gateways to real careers.
