Tata Power Solaroof Brings ‘Ghar Ghar Solar’ to Kolkata, Offers Zero Upfront Installation Cost

Kolkata, 15 October 2026: With Durga Puja ushering in the spirit of new beginnings and prosperity, Tata Power Solaroof has launched its flagship ‘Ghar Ghar Solar’ initiative in West Bengal, aiming to make rooftop solar energy more accessible and affordable for households across the state. The initiative offers integrated clean energy solutions, convenient financing options and energy management systems, including a special financing proposition with zero upfront investment.

A part of Tata Power Renewable Energy Limited (TPREL), Tata Power Solaroof plans to facilitate rooftop solar adoption across 3 lakh homes in West Bengal over the next three years. The initiative will offer rooftop solar systems ranging from 1 kW to 10 kW, helping households reduce electricity expenses while embracing a cleaner and more sustainable energy future.

To make solar adoption more affordable, eligible residential consumers can avail financial assistance under the PM Surya Ghar: Muft Bijli Yojana, subject to applicable guidelines. The central financial assistance includes ₹30,000 for 1 kW systems, ₹60,000 for 2 kW systems and up to ₹78,000 for systems of 3 kW and above.

Further easing the financial burden of installation, Tata Power has partnered with Aerem to introduce a special financing proposition for customers in West Bengal. The offering includes zero upfront investment, affordable EMIs, flexible repayment options and solar insurance coverage, enabling more households to transition to solar energy.

Beyond rooftop solar installations, the company is also offering advanced battery energy storage solutions to help consumers store surplus solar power for use when required. Residential battery storage systems range from 5 kWh to 40 kWh, while the PowerHub portfolio for commercial and industrial consumers spans capacities from 60 kWh to 5 MWh. These solutions aim to enhance energy independence, improve power reliability and support efficient energy management.

To expand adoption beyond urban centres, the initiative also features ‘Mera Gaon, Mera Solar’, a community-focused programme designed to accelerate rooftop solar adoption across rural and semi-urban West Bengal. Through awareness campaigns, local outreach and community engagement, the programme will highlight the economic, environmental and energy security benefits of solar power.

Speaking on the launch, Dr. Praveer Sinha, CEO and Managing Director of Tata Power, said the company was delighted to introduce the ‘Ghar Ghar Solar’ campaign in West Bengal on the auspicious occasion of Durga Puja. He emphasised that rooftop solar solutions and accessible financing would help households gain greater control over their electricity generation and consumption while reducing energy costs and carbon emissions. He also encouraged eligible consumers to take advantage of the PM Surya Ghar scheme to make the transition to solar power more affordable.

Tata Power Solaroof has already established a growing presence in West Bengal, with 4,413 rooftop solar installations and a cumulative installed capacity of 117.17 MWp. According to the company, these installations help avoid nearly 1.4 lakh tonnes of carbon dioxide emissions annually, equivalent to the environmental benefit of planting more than 58 lakh trees per year.

At the national level, Tata Power Solaroof had completed 5,74,948 rooftop solar installations as of 30 September 2026, with a cumulative installed capacity exceeding 5.67 GWp.

The company is also contributing to West Bengal’s clean mobility ecosystem, with 208 electric vehicle charging points across public and semi-public locations and more than 6,380 home charger installations. Through its integrated clean energy portfolio, Tata Power continues to support households, businesses and communities in adopting solutions that enable them to generate, store and use energy more efficiently.

With its expanded focus on rooftop solar, battery storage and accessible financing, Tata Power aims to accelerate West Bengal’s clean energy transition while supporting India’s broader sustainability goals.
