Star Health Settles 6 Lakh+ Claims Worth Over ₹3,200 Crore in West Bengal

Kolkata, September 3, 2026: Star Health and Allied Insurance Company Limited, India’s leading standalone health insurer, has settled more than 6 lakh health insurance claims worth over ₹3,200 crore in West Bengal since inception, reinforcing its commitment to expanding access to health insurance and quality healthcare across the state.

West Bengal remains a key market for Star Health, with the company operating through 60+ branches and a network of more than 650 hospitals across the state.

In FY26, Star Health settled over 1.18 lakh claims worth more than ₹600 crore in West Bengal. During Q1 FY27, the insurer settled 33,000+ claims amounting to over ₹140 crore.

Focus on Accessible and Connected Healthcare

Atin Roy, Business Head – West Bengal, Star Health Insurance, said the company is focusing on making health insurance more accessible, affordable and relevant throughout customers’ healthcare journeys.

He highlighted the company’s growing hospital network, technology-enabled claims support, telemedicine and Home Healthcare services as key initiatives aimed at improving access to timely and quality healthcare.

Star Health is also expanding its role beyond traditional hospitalisation support by focusing on preventive healthcare, medical consultations, hospitalisation assistance, claims support and home-based care.

Preventive Care and Telemedicine Expand

The company reported significant growth in its healthcare services during FY26:

  • 5.48 lakh preventive health check-ups, up 42%
  • 1.17 lakh telemedicine consultations, up 88%
  • 92,153 Home Healthcare utilisations across 300+ cities

Eligible customers can access clinically appropriate home healthcare through a cashless model.

AI and Technology Driving Faster Claims

Technology continues to play a major role in Star Health’s claims operations. The company processes more than 10,000 claims every day, with 92% of cashless claims processed within three hours.

AI currently supports around 20% of routine cashless claims, with Star Health targeting 50% AI-enabled processing over the next two years.

‘Talk to Star’ Brings Healthcare Support Closer

As part of its healthcare-partner approach, Star Health has introduced ‘Talk to Star’, a single point of contact designed to help customers access telemedicine, Home Healthcare and planned hospitalisation support.

Customers can also access virtual doctor consultations through the Star Health app, enabling them to seek medical guidance from home.
