Kolkata, July 17, 2026: The 8th National Conference of the Robotic Urology Forum (RUFCON 2026) was inaugurated in Kolkata, marking Eastern India’s first national conference dedicated to robotic urology. The three-day scientific event brought together more than 300 leading robotic urologists, surgeons, academicians and healthcare experts from across the country to discuss the future of robotic-assisted surgery, Artificial Intelligence (AI) and next-generation technologies in urological care.
The conference showcased the rapid advancement of robotic urology, with experts highlighting the growing success of robot-assisted procedures such as radical prostatectomy, radical cystectomy and other complex urological surgeries. Speakers emphasized that robotic-assisted surgery is redefining patient care by offering greater precision, minimally invasive treatment, reduced blood loss, shorter hospital stays, faster recovery and improved long-term functional outcomes.
A key highlight of RUFCON 2026 was the growing integration of Artificial Intelligence (AI) into robotic surgery. Experts discussed how AI-powered systems, machine learning and data-driven performance analytics are enabling surgeons to assess surgical outcomes more accurately, improve clinical decision-making, enhance precision and reduce complications. The discussions also focused on the future potential of AI in delivering personalized and technology-driven healthcare.
Speaking at the conference, Dr. Tarun Jindal, Organising Secretary of RUFCON 2026 and Consultant Uro-Oncologist & Robotic Surgeon at Apollo Multispeciality Hospitals, Kolkata, said that the conference reflected the rapid evolution of robotic urology in India while promoting collaboration, innovation and skill development. He noted that emerging technologies such as AI and Augmented Reality are transforming patient care and helping make advanced robotic surgery more accessible across the country.
Dr. Anant Kumar, President of the Robotic Urology Forum and Chairman, Urology & Robotics, Max Hospital, Delhi, said that RUFCON continues to serve as a valuable platform for scientific exchange, collaboration and the advancement of robotic urology in India.
Dr. Ravimohan, Secretary of the Robotic Urology Forum and Professor, Department of Urology, PGIMER, Chandigarh, emphasized that continuous scientific dialogue and the exchange of clinical experience are essential for improving patient outcomes and driving innovation in robotic surgery.
The conference concluded with a collective commitment to advancing robotic urology through research, education, innovation and collaboration, while expanding access to cutting-edge robotic surgical technologies for patients across India.
