Kolkata, 20 November 2025: Procam International, the promoters of the Tata Steel World 25K Kolkata (TSW25K), has announced Double Olympic Silver Medallist and World Championships Gold and Silver Medallist Kenny Bednarek as the International Event Ambassador for the event’s milestone 10th edition, scheduled for Sunday, 21 December 2025. The world’s first World Athletics Gold Label 25K race continues to champion community spirit, resilience, and inclusivity.
At just 27, Bednarek—popularly known as Kung Fu Kenny—has emerged as one of track and field’s most consistent and admired sprinters. With silver medals in the 200m at both the Tokyo 2020 and Paris 2024 Olympics, and a gold and silver at the 2025 World Championships in Tokyo, he has firmly established his place among the global elite. His journey reflects a powerful narrative of perseverance and grit.
Born in Wisconsin, Bednarek overcame a difficult childhood marked by abandonment and early hardship. Rising through community college athletics before reaching the world stage, his story underscores the belief that determination, not circumstance, shapes destiny.

Every race, every step, builds you,” Bednarek said ahead of his visit to Kolkata. “I’m excited to be part of the Tata Steel World 25K Kolkata’s 10th year. Representing the United States, Bednarek holds world-class personal bests: 9.79s in the 100m (2025), 19.57s in the 200m (2024), and 44.73s in the 400m (2019).
