PLASTINDIA 2026 Roadshow Highlights West Bengal’s ₹3,000 Crore Plastics Investment, Aligned with CM’s Industrial Vision

Kolkata, November 12, 2025: The Plastindia Foundation, organizer of the world’s largest plastics exhibition, hosted the PLASTINDIA 2026 Kolkata Roadshow today at JW Marriott Kolkata, spotlighting West Bengal’s fast-growing plastics sector and new investments exceeding ₹3,000 crore.

The state’s expanding plastics ecosystem aligns with the Honourable Chief Minister Smt. Mamata Banerjee’s vision to position West Bengal as a global manufacturing hub through MSME empowerment and sustainable industrial development. The upcoming investments are expected to generate nearly two lakh jobs and add over ₹20,000 crore to the state’s GDP.

The event was graced by Chief Guest Janab Firhad Hakim, Honourable Mayor of Kolkata and Minister for Urban Development & Municipal Affairs, and Guest of Honour Smt. Vandana Yadav, IAS, Principal Secretary, Industry, Commerce & Enterprises, Government of West Bengal. Organized in collaboration with the Indian Plastics Federation (IPF), the roadshow marked the eastern launch of PLASTINDIA 2026, the 12th International Plastics Exhibition, Conference, and Convention.

West Bengal: Emerging Polymer Powerhouse

The state is rapidly emerging as a key growth hub for the polymer industry, under the ‘Egiye Bangla (Bengal Marches Forward)’ industrial policy.
Key developments include:

  • Haldia Petrochemicals Ltd. (HPL) investing over ₹5,000 crore to set up India’s largest Phenol & Acetone plant, opening new downstream opportunities for MSMEs.
  • IPF’s plans to establish two new poly parks, including one at Uluberia, to cater to the rising demand for plastics processing infrastructure.
  • A sector skill centre at Sankrail to build a future-ready industrial workforce.

With West Bengal’s per capita plastic consumption at 9 kg, well below the national average of 15 kg, industry leaders see vast potential for growth in both domestic and export markets.

‘Bharat Next’: The World’s Premier Plastics Exhibition

The Kolkata Roadshow also launched the eastern region’s participation in PLASTINDIA 2026, themed ‘Bharat Next’, scheduled from February 5–10, 2026, at Bharat Mandapam (IECC), New Delhi.
The event will host:

  • 2,000+ Exhibitors
  • 6,00,000+ Visitors
  • 80+ Participating Countries

Mr. Ravish Kamath, President, Plastindia Foundation, said,“We are deeply grateful to the Honourable Chief Minister for her proactive industrial policies that have created a fertile ground for growth. India’s plastics sector is poised to reach USD 50 billion by 2026, and West Bengal’s new wave of investment exemplifies this momentum.”
