Kolkata, 22nd September 2025:
The Forum of Women in Public Sector (WIPS), Eastern Region Chapter, successfully hosted its regional event in Shillong on 12th September 2025, with NEEPCO Shillong as the host organisation. The event brought together a galaxy of speakers and participants to celebrate leadership, empowerment, and the breaking of gender barriers.
The programme featured a powerful keynote address by Padma Shri awardee Smt. Patricia Mukhim, who urged participants to embrace action with her thought-provoking talk “Make Moves, Not Excuses!”. Major General Rajesh Kumar Jha, AVSM (Retd.), Director (Personnel), NEEPCO, shared valuable insights on navigating power structures and influencing decisions, while Col. Megha Astagikar, CO IWTO Unit, delivered a bold session on “Challenging Traditional Gender Roles”, inspiring women to defy stereotypes and claim their space in leadership.
The event was presided over by Smt. Swagata Sen Roy, President, WIPS Eastern Region, and graced by the presence of Smt. Neha Dugar, Vice President, WIPS ER, Smt. Ranjana Chakravorty, Secretary, WIPS ER, and Smt. Elbin D. Dole, Joint Secretary, WIPS ER, along with members of the executive committee.
With enthusiastic participation from members across the Eastern Region, the event concluded on a high note, reaffirming WIPS’ mission as a catalyst for women’s empowerment and leadership advancement in the public sector.
