Malabar Group Commits INR 150 Crore to Strengthen CSR Initiatives in FY 2025-26

Kolkata, 28 May, 2025– In a significant move to intensify its social impact, Malabar Group—one of India’s foremost business conglomerates and the parent company of Malabar Gold & Diamonds—has announced an allocation of INR 150 crore towards its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiatives for the financial year 2025–26. The announcement was made today on the occasion of World Hunger Day at the Dr. Ambedkar International Centre, New Delhi.
A cornerstone of this renewed commitment is the expansion of The Hunger Free World initiative, Malabar’s flagship CSR program dedicated to addressing hunger. The initiative aims to distribute 70,000 nutritious meals daily across India and Zambia, amounting to 2.5 crore meals in the upcoming fiscal year alone. Since its launch three years ago, the program has already provided over 2.5 crore meals to those in need.
“According to the United Nations, 295 million people globally are facing acute hunger. Immediate, meaningful action is imperative,” stated M.P. Ahammed, Chairman of Malabar Group. “CSR is an integral part of our organizational ethos, and we are committed to creating measurable, long-term impact across underserved communities.”
Strategic Focus: Hunger, Education, Healthcare, and Women Empowerment
Malabar Group will dedicate 60% of its CSR budget to key social sectors including hunger eradication, education, healthcare, poverty alleviation, women’s empowerment, housing, and environmental sustainability.
In Eastern India, the initiative officially commenced today at the Group’s Kankurgachi showroom in Kolkata, where the daily distribution of 2,704 meals has begun. These meals are prepared in modern, hygienic kitchens staffed by trained culinary professionals.In the education sector, Malabar operates 716 micro-learning centers across India, currently benefiting more than 32,000 children. Notably, over 9,000 students have transitioned successfully into the formal education system. In collaboration with NGO partner Thanal, the Group has also awarded scholarships to 1,14,000 girls to promote educational equity.Malabar’s Grandma Homes project, which offers shelter and care to destitute elderly women, is currently active in Bengaluru, Kerala, and Hyderabad, with plans to expand to Chennai, Kolkata, Delhi, and Mumbai.
In a bid to improve healthcare accessibility, Malabar will also establish nonprofit medical stores offering subsidized medicines in all 140 locations across Kerala. To date, 27 such outlets are already operational.Through its Uyirppu Project, Malabar is supporting the higher education of 134 students impacted by the 2024 Wayanad landslide, providing financial assistance to help them continue their studies.
Since its inception, Malabar Gold & Diamonds has consistently allocated 5% of its profits towards social welfare programs—underscoring its enduring commitment to inclusive, sustainable development.
