Kolkata, March 10, 2026: The 46th PSPB Inter Unit Golf Tournament 2025–26 commenced on March 9 at the historic Royal Calcutta Golf Club, with GAIL (India) Limited serving as the host for this prestigious sporting event. The tournament has brought together top golfing talent from India’s petroleum sector, highlighting the spirit of competition, collaboration and sporting excellence among the country’s leading public sector enterprises.
Widely regarded as one of the most iconic golf venues in the world, the Royal Calcutta Golf Club provides a fitting backdrop for the championship. Established in 1829, the club is not only the oldest golf club in India but also the oldest outside the British Isles, making it a landmark venue in the global golfing community. Its lush fairways and strategically designed greens offer both a challenging and picturesque course for players.
The opening day of the tournament featured registration of participants and practice rounds, allowing players to familiarise themselves with the demanding course conditions while preparing for the competitive rounds ahead. The championship spans four days and is expected to witness high-level competition and camaraderie among participants representing some of India’s most prominent energy companies.
Major public sector undertakings from the petroleum and natural gas sector are participating in the tournament under the aegis of the Petroleum Sports Promotion Board. Participating organisations include Indian Oil Corporation Limited, Bharat Petroleum Corporation Limited, Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Limited, Oil and Natural Gas Corporation, Oil India Limited, Chennai Petroleum Corporation Limited and Maharashtra Natural Gas Limited, alongside host organisation GAIL.
The competitive segment of the tournament continues on March 10 with Skill Competitions and the Stableford Round, where golfers will test their accuracy, control and strategic play on the challenging course. The Stableford format, known for rewarding consistent performance, is expected to deliver exciting moments and closely contested scores.

The official inauguration ceremony of the championship will take place on March 11, with R. K. Jain, Director (Finance) of GAIL (India) Limited, attending the event as the Chief Guest. His presence will mark the formal commencement of the tournament’s competitive phase.
The four-day championship will culminate on March 12 with a grand Prize Distribution Ceremony, where outstanding performers will be honoured for their achievements. Beyond competition, the event also aims to strengthen professional bonds and promote the culture of sportsmanship among India’s major petroleum sector organisations.
The PSPB Inter Unit Golf Tournament has long been recognised as a platform that encourages physical fitness, healthy competition and team spirit within the energy sector. This year’s edition at the Royal Calcutta Golf Club continues that tradition, combining sporting excellence with the rich heritage of one of golf’s most historic venues.
