In a significant step reflecting Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee’s vision, leadership, and commitment to the welfare of minority communities, the Department of Minority Affairs and Madrasah Education, Government of West Bengal, has sanctioned approximately ₹43 lakh for the construction of a boundary wall at the Liluah Cemetery.
This crucial developmental initiative has been made possible under the active leadership and persistent efforts of Gautam Chowdhury, MLA from North Howrah and President of the Howrah District Trinamool Congress. The Public Works Department (PWD) has been entrusted with the execution of the project.
A simple yet dignified ceremony was held to mark the occasion, where MLA Gautam Chowdhury emphasized that under the dynamic leadership of Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, the Government of West Bengal continues to work tirelessly to ensure the holistic development of minority communities and the improvement of essential infrastructure. He further assured that efforts would continue for the expansion and enhancement of facilities at the Liluah Cemetery.

The event was graced by several prominent local personalities, including Md Rustam (former Councillor, Ward 16), Bapi Manna (former Councillor, Ward 3), Abdul Qaiyum Ansari (President, Central Howrah Trinamool Minority Cell), Mohammad Arzoo (President, North Howrah Trinamool Minority Cell), Akhtar Ansari (President, Ward 16), as well as Arman Ansari, noted social worker Badruduzza Ansari, Mohammad Irfan, Arshad Ansari, Mohammad Alauddin, and several other respected community members.
At the conclusion of the program, participants expressed heartfelt gratitude and admiration for Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee’s steadfast commitment to minority welfare and her visionary approach toward inclusive and people-centric governance.
